58:36Twenty-five years after the September 11th attacks in the United States, tens of thousands of newly released documents reveal evidence that individuals working for the Saudi government may have been involved. 9/11: The Saudi Connection investigates the role of Omar al-Bayoumi, a central figure who helped the first two hijackers secure housing, bank accounts, and equipment after they arrived in the United States, attracting a huge salary bump. After being arrested by British police and held for seven days, al-Bayoumi was released and allowed to return to Saudi Arabia, as the FBI withheld information to UK officers throughout his detention. The United States then suppressed evidence before an inquiry about Saudi involvement, and its connections to al-Qaeda. Investigative reporter Jane McMullen explores these suspicious happenings, uncovers never-before-broadcast video footage, hears from people close to the case who have never spoken before, and asks why significant evidence has remained hidden for so long.
The Power of Big Oil is a three-part series that investigates the decades-long failure to confront the threat of climate change and the role of the fossil fuel industry. The series presents a parade of former oil company scientists, lobbyists, and public relations strategists who lay bare how the biggest petroleum firm in the United States, Exxon, and then the broader petroleum industry globally, moved from attempting to understand the causes of a global heating to a concerted campaign to hide the making of an environmental catastrophe. Over three episodes--Denial, Doubt, Delay--the series documents the corporate cooptation of science, the manipulation of public opinion, and political figureheads that mirror conduct by other industries--from big tobacco to the pharmaceutical companies responsible for the opioid epidemic.
